I hope that what I'll share here
will bring you to ... a ‘revelational’ moment, where you'd throw your hands in
the air thanking God for who He has made you to be, and realizing that Nothing
About You Is A Mistake. Okay, so ...
"Talents ... Gifts ... Characters (Behaviors) ... You."
Who are you, and what can you do
(with it)? I will try to explain what I've learnt over the years. The first of
which is: You Are Not A Mistake!
From the time your parents fell in love so deeply that their love somehow
spewed over and morphed into you ... well ... you were in God's plan. In fact,
the plan was so intricately designed that for you to be as beautifully formed as
you are, He made two people cross rivers and deserts in order to meet and fall
in love ... the product being you.
Okay, fast forward to adulthood.
You're all grown up and you've developed some characters over the years. The
problem is you are more focused on what God has made others to be, than on what
God has made you to be. You lose sight of those treasures He has made available
and naturally in you. When you focus your attention in the wrong direction, you
lose sight of what your focus should actually be.
Herein lies the problem. The
devil finds something nice and shiny to catch your attention. Many times, he's
failed. God, our loving Father is continuously watching over you, but like all
fathers ... when you reach a certain maturity point, He lets you make your own
decisions so you can learn from every single up-and-down you face in life. This
is because God will not choose for or pressure you into making a choice ... He
has given you the will to make decisions.
Every single part of you was
beautifully made my God. He took His time over a nine-month period to perfect
you! ...and He did. In Louie Giglio's words;
“The
complexity and intensity of man is beyond comparison to any of creation. It is
beyond imagination or understanding, yet understood to be of and from Majesty
on high.
Made
in the image of God, man is nothing but a miracle. The eye, being the most
technologically advanced and complex of all complexities, is but a tiny piece
of creation as compared to the sun of the solar system, yet more significant
than any.
Half
of mom and half of dad come together to form one cell that multiplies into
75,000,000 cells that form the human body. 50,000 of which die and are replaced
every 3 seconds. And, you wonder why you get so tired all the time?? ...you're
simply amazing!
I
found out that there's so much DNA in your body that if you stretched it all
end to end there'd be enough DNA to go the moon and back 178,000 times...
that's how amazing God has made you to be.
One
from the past nailed it when he said this . . .
Men
go abroad to wonder at the height of mountains, the huge waves of the sea, the
long course of rivers, the vast compass of the ocean, the circular motion of
the stars... but they pass by themselves and don't even notice. - Augustine
.
. . The most amazing of all creation is . . . you and I.
Though
we are but a vapor, you and me, and tiny and frail, we are marked by Majesty,
and we have been created in the very image of God who breathes out the stars
and put the universe into place. You and I are fashioned and formed and
ordained by the God of all creation. We are fearfully and wonderfully made, you
and I. We are a miracle! You are somebody incredibly special!!"
Sure ... everyone at some point
in time becomes stubborn, annoying and that irritating splinter in the side
that jus' won't go away, but ... even that is not a mistake about you. Take
talking for example. If you're like me and shy of none, you realize you can
talk to anyone, which makes evangelism very easy. If you love music and can
sing, you can sing the gospel to the world. If you love photography like I do,
you can show the world God's beautiful creations and use that as an opportunity
to talk about God. If you just can't help yourself, in that, you just care so
much about the welfare of people whether you know them personally or not ...
it's an opportunity to allow Christ to work in you to draw them to Him. By
showing love and care, and helping in any way that you can to relieve them ...
you become a bridge to Christ, because they would wonder why you're helping a
total stranger, and at that very point you get to talk about Christ and the
ways of a Christian. If you just like talking, you can employ it in writing
writs like this one that will draw people to know God better, or you can simply
talk their ear off ... that works too.
You see, when you realize and
understand the depth of who you are and who God has made you to be ... you
don't lose sight of your focus and what impact you can actually make in the
lives of people. You cannot make an impact when you've lost focus. When you're
complaining, being negative and allowing the devil to hinder you from being who
you are ... it is sad, and you make God sad because He has made you fearfully
and wonderfully but you choose to listen to the devil instead and lose your
light or saltiness.
Your gift or talent may not be
what you want it to be, but it is what it is for a reason. Because... God made
it so, and He knows through which medium you will be most effective in drawing
men unto Him. Plus ... when you operate in your natural realm of giftings and
talents ... the flow is just so natural because it is innate, and the impact is
massive!!! Think about it this way ... if you're made to sing, but choose to
dance when you do not know how to ... you will just not make any impact at all.
Rather ... you will lose the attention you would have had to cause a change. On
the other hand, when you're singing in that beautiful voice God gave you ...
you easily catch the attention of any who hears you, and only then is when an
impact can be made.
You are a child of God, made in
His very own image. To resolve that you're ugly or a mistake is to resolve that
God is same. This is insulting and disrespectful to God, and shows the highest
level of ingratitude to Him. You break His heart when you make such resolves
and you hinder any blessings He wants to shower on you. The devil is so crafty
that he will do every and anything to hinder your blessings and progress. He hates God and everything about God, which
includes you ... why? Because ... you are made in God's very own image. Every
time the devil looks at you ... he sees God and gets very upset.
Your character that you've
developed over the years of your growth may have some stains here and there,
but ... is not a mistake. No one is perfect, but God. You are just the way God
made you to be. Never ever forget that, or you will lose your focus and be
miserable as the devil takes that opportunity to torment you! If you give him
the chance ... trust me ... he will torment you to his heart's content. But, if
you allow God to fill you up with His Spirit, and allow Him use you as He
intended for you to be ... you will save one or many from the clutches of the
devil.
Remember . . .
NOTHING ABOUT YOU IS A MISTAKE.
~ Yoyo
