Silent as breath yet strong as wind, soft as a whisper yet overwhelming
as an emotion are just but a few of the many ways we could describe the Holy
Spirit. A comforter sent to comfort... to fill the void created by Jesus's
ascension to Heaven in preparation for His soon return. Bearing us in mind,
Jesus never leaves neither forsakes we who are His, catering for our every need
before we even know of the existence of such a need.
As sweet a friend as any, yet
better in all regards. The Comforter sits close by and lends a listening ear to
your deepest worries and desires. Upon completion of your narrative He proceeds
to comfort you via the means He deems fits the situation. Sometimes by a
whisper and at other times by holding unto you warmly enough to feel you with
the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. Drawing us closer to the
Father for His grace to fill us is another of the countless things the Holy
Spirit does. A friend to the lonely and a teacher to the lost, a brother to he without
any family and a source of joy to the down-hearted... The Comforter is what you
need Him to be when you need Him to be it.
You see, God is love. He is such
love that cannot be fathomed! In His
love of man, He creates man, provides for man, protects man, and then saves man
when man goes wrong - He sends a savior, who is Jesus. Upon completion of His
mission here amongst men, Jesus returns to God. God's love always a step ahead
knows that man will notice the emptiness created by His son's presence no more
walking amongst men, thus He sends a Comforter to fill that void. This
Comforter is anything but lacking in wisdom, power and abilities. From healing
any kind of infirmity ever imagined through guiding through the dark and
crooked paths to raising the confidence level of the timid at heart... He is more than able to do more than just
filling a void - He Comforts every need.
The Holy Spirit is one who descends as a dove yet strikes as lightening! and can yet be
grieved by the kind of life we live. Disrespect and disregard for God dampens
His person, and He hurts just as we do. He is anything but just a thing... He is a person! Similar to the effects
of any earthly relationship man may have, The Holy Spirit grieves when unfairly
regarded. Ephesians 4 verse 30 says: "And
grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of
redemption." He is that much required amongst men. He is highly ranked
and regarded by God Almighty, and His
disrespect will not be taken lightly by God Himself. Jesus in His own words
said in Matthew 12 verse 31 this - "Wherefore
I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but
the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men."
When in need, speak to The Holy
Spirit who Comforts. He is not partial and will listen. He will be right there
by your side whispering ever softly back to you. As a word of caution though...
do not disrespect Him or else the above scripture will be your portion.
