There are quite a number of
feelings we experience as human beings; love, joy, peace, hatred and anger
being a handful of them, and with "Love" being my favorite of them
all I end up sharing a lot more on that than any of the rest. I'm diverting now
to share on one that's been a bother to my heart because of the damage it
reigns on countless - Anger.
Unforgiveness, hatred and malice
being a few of its characteristics, Anger is resolved to be a destructive
force. The weight laid on the shoulders of any who allows anger to overcome
them is (in my opinion) an unbelievably irrationally heavy one. The thought
alone of holding on to a grudge that causes a loss in one's composure and peace
EVERY SINGLE TIME the cause of that anger shows up is completely unnerving to
me! Yet, for some reason, we still let it happen to us... choosing war over
peace.
Anger is a sign of weakness. It
shows you have no control over your heart and mind; your self controls you.
Having no control means you're equivalent to a landmine simply waiting for the
slightest of touches to go off; any unfortunate and unsuspecting persons who
dare step on your form will have the blow-up of their lives! This makes such
persons such a destructive force that any around could be burned (hurt physically
or emotionally). Unfortunately, patience is seen as the greatest sign of
weakness while it's destructive counterpart, anger, is seen as a display of
strength and fortitude. Patience is simply the ability to hold your own; to be
able to keep it together no matter what tries to rock your boat. It is easier
said than done, I know, but it is very possible to pull off. The will with
which you turn up the heat and burn right through anything is the very same
with which you can keep it together in order to build bridges. I believe it is
simply a choice to be made. Speaking as one with a previous growing-up
experience with anger and loss of one's wit, and the eventual gaining of
control of one's emotions, believe me when I say it is very possible to hold your
own no matter how heightened the urge to let it all loose. To not have control
is to be unstable and broken; Proverbs
25:28, KJV - "He that hath no
rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls."
The kind of person who loses his
temper in a moment or at a whim is he who as we say in contemporary speech, “Blows his stack”. Such a person can
shout and is likely to get violent physically or in speech. Such weakness! Allowing the city of
your heart-and-mind to be broken into, and so easily such that your peace and
self-control is taking away from you is just sad. Oh, and... just in case
you're wondering, yes... I, myself, have had my city broken into countless
times, but with each break-in I am learning to stand up stronger in order to be
able to hold down my fort. The patience to do this is true strength! Believing
and trusting in God for His help to accomplish this is true spiritual strength.
Man will both consciously and unconsciously provoke by words and/or actions and
you certainly will get upset (because we're human), but losing control and
holding on to that anger is where that failure is none else's but your own.
I have learnt that we need to
learn a little bit of God’s patience; we need to learn to let things go wrong sometimes
and do nothing about them. It is another sign of strength by wisdom. Jesus knew
when to talk and when not to regardless of the situation. We need to learn
this. Finally, I'd like to say to choose peace of anger - let go of anything
that burdens your heart to sadness. Anything stealing your joy is a hindrance
to your peace... let it go! It is
unavoidable that we will get upset every now and then, but letting the anger
control you is weakness! ...it is
wrong by God's standards. Ephesians
4:26, KJV - "Be ye angry, and
sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath..."
Meditate in these...
James 1 : 19, KJV - "Wherefore,
my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to
wrath..."
Proverbs 16:32, KJV - "He
that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit
than he that taketh a city."
Colossians 3:12, KJV - "Put
on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies,
kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering..."
