So,
you know how as humans we really love to be on point, especially, with some
particular stuff like... errr... playing a particular musical piece? ...or,
even something more general to all like how we live, the way we present ourselves
and all?? Well, sometimes, that can get out of hand without a person even
realising, although some others are conscious of their actions.
When
you start to set standards for yourself, focusing more on what you must achieve
and how, you slowly start to lose sight of your true standard. You see, the
thing is, setting standards is a good thing, but when it loses conformity to
the true marking scheme then therein lies a problem. Why? ...because, you
become your own standard, and how do you find true value if you compare what
must be marked with something of its own sort or an even lower value?
Jesus
comes down to earth in the form of His creation and rather than show off His
power, He conforms to God's will. Thus, at the beginning of His life (and at a
rather very tender age) He wanted to be about His father's business, and even
at the final moments, He said; "...but
nevertheless, your will be done!"
God's standard remained the standard right from the beginning all the way
through to the end. So, if The Creator conformed to the standard (will) of God,
why is The Created creating its own standards??
None
is perfect but we all are striving for it. Along the path to that destination
it helps if you often lift up your head to look upon The Cross to see if you
are in line or going off track. Examining yourself is where you ought to be
careful not to get too righteous and lose track of what is the standard. I have
found that what we believe in could end up becoming what hold as our
standard... thinking it to be right even when it is wrong. Do bear in mind
that; "...where your treasure is,
there your heart will be also." - Matthew
6:21, ESV. Once you become a Christian (an imitator of Christ) there
remains ONLY ONE standard - The Word of God!
